Vaginal Infections :- If vaginal discharge is foul-smelling, changes color (greenish or yellowish) and is accompanied by itch or burning, it's a sign of vaginal infections. Common issues are bacterial vaginosis, vaginal yeast infections and sexually transmitted infections (STis).

Hormonal Changes :-A decline in the female hormone-estrogen due to menopause can result in vagina dryness, infections and vagina atrophy. These are conditions that cause pain during sexual intercourse.

Lifestyle and Diet :- Not eating a healthy and balanced diet but mainly high sugar and processed foods. This weakens the immune system resulting in vaginal yeast infection and vaginal dryness. 

Other lifestyle habits such as smoking, douching and drinking too much alcohol can affect vaginal lubrication. Lack of vagina fluid can cause painful sex.

Medications :- Birth control pills, radiotherapy or chemotherapy for cancer causes drop in estrogen level. Lack of estrogen affects the vagina's ability to secrete it's own natural lubrication. This causes thinning of the vaginal wall which makes it more susceptible to vagina infections and pain during intercouse.
