From my experience, the best ways to eliminate vaginal odor are through herbal supplements, home remedies, proper vaginal hygiene and diet change.
Bacterial viginitis or candida supplements and diet change cure the root cause of the problem without the side-effects of medication. Home remedies and practising good vaginal health habits are inexpensive and they do not cause any side-effects as well.
Customers who follow my advice on how to get rid of vaginal odor have attested to the effectiveness of these methods. Incorporate them into your daily diet or lifestyles; I am sure these measures will work for you too.
1. Vaginal hygiene
Wash the vaginal area with unscented and mild soap daily. Scented feminine hygiene products only serve to mask the bad vagina odor. It worsens the situation if you have a vaginal infection.
Clean and Dry Vagina
Keeping your vagina clean and dry is an effective way to eliminate vaginal odor as bacteria cannot thrive in a clean, dry place. Wash your vagina with luke warm water after every trip to the bathroom and wipe dry with a terry cloth towel.
Wear cotton panties and change it at least once a day. Synthetic fibers (lycra and spandex) retain moisture, allowing odor-causing bacteria to thrive. Cotton underwear absorbs sweat, making it less conducive for bacteria to grow.
Refrain from douching. This may actually push the bacteria further
into the vagina giving rise to further complications such as pelvic inflammatory
Pubic Hair Removal
Pubic hair traps bacteria, sweat, discharges and grime leading to an unpleasant smell. The smell is more pronounced when you are wearing tight jeans all day long. Trim pubic hair regularly. If you have a thick growth, consider removing some of the hair.
If vaginal odor is prominent during your period consider switching from pads to tampons. This will trap all the smells related to menstruation. If you are already using tampons, change them frequently to eliminate smelly vaginal odor.
Vaginal odor is also apparent when the genital secretions and sweat of both partners are left to linger after sex. Bathing after sex is an important step in curing vaginal odor. Urinating directly after sex may also help to cleanse the area by pushing out any secretions.
2. Herbal Supplements
Taking a daily supplement such as cranberry, mixed vinegar or garlic (allicin) help keep the vaginal flora in balance and boost your immune system. Besides lowering the risk of contracting bacterial viginitis and candida these herbal supplements improve your general well-being as well.
3. Diet Change
Eating a cup of plain yogurt daily help to increase the lactobacillus (good bacteria) in the vagina and keep bacterial vaginosis at bay, thus eliminating bad vaginal odor.
Cut down on refined carbohydrates, sugar and caffeine, e.g. white bread, fast food, beer, coffee and carbonated drinks. The yeast in these foods will worsen a vaginal yeast infection (candida) or cause a recurrence for constant sufferers of candida.
Chlorophyll, derived from green plants, is a natural internal deodorizer. Drinking liquid chlorophyll twice a day helps to eliminate vaginal odor. (Mix one tablespoonful of liquid chlorophyll in an 8 oz glass of water).
4. Home Remedies
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil’s anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties are a natural remedy for eliminating bad vagina odor and itching. Add 5-6 drops of tea tree oil in 16 fluid oz (0.5 liter) of water and use this to wash the external vaginal anatomy.
Inserting a tampon dipped in plain yogurt into the vagina can get rid of the “fishy smell” associated with BV within a week or two. (Remember to wash the vagina after removing the tampon).
Implementing the above measures will help you to eliminate vaginal odor just as they have helped my web visitors and physical shop customers.
